Why is Life So Difficult?
What a difficult world you live in. The pace of life is out of control. Too much to do, too much to remember. So many responsibilities, so many demands, someone always expecting something from you.
…And doesn’t it often seem as if someone is always upset with you over some unmet expectation?
Yes, it’s true, technology has made life easier. Yet Matthew McConaughey in the 1997 movie CONTACT revealed the effect of this technological advancement in our lives clearly, “We shop at home, surf the web, (text rather than talk). But at the same time we feel emptier, lonelier, and more cut off from each other than at any other time in human history”.
Today mental disorders and depression dominate the majority of the population in America. In fact, an estimated 26% of Americans ages 18 and older -- about 1 in 4 adults -- suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in any given year! (John Hopkins Medicine Research)
And oddly these statistics are also true for those of us who call ourselves Christians. Sure we have changed some habits, some of our actions, how we talk, how we treat each other, where we go and what we do…but deep inside are we really that much different?
Know what I mean? Are we hurting that much less? Are we less depressed? Less fearful and insecure? …Happier?
Why is “this” not working?
I want you to consider something that might at first seem a little out of the box. …Maybe somewhat outside of your normal analytical thinking.
Is it just possible that the reason this world is so difficult (seemingly at times impossible to live in without becoming emotionally wounded, and suffering from the damage) is maybe because of the fact that…
YOU AND I WERE SIMPLY NOT DESIGNED OR CREATED TO LIVE IN THIS WORLD?
What do I mean?
If the version of “creation” that so many world religions believe is correct, then you do understand this wasn’t the original world God designed you to live in? You do know that – don’t you? …In fact this is “second choice”.
Now for just a moment think about what life in that original world (that garden) was like?
First, you were never going to have to work for a living. Not what we would consider work. You do realize that?
Nor was there ever going to be a day when you were going to have to sit down and figure out or scheme a plan for how you were going to be able to pay the mortgage or rent next month. …Or how you were going to make the car payment. Or pay the electric bill. Or pay your cell phone bill.
That just wasn’t going to happen.
…Nor would there have ever been a day that you had to scrape up your last few pennies to buy a loaf of bread, or a bag of potatoes.
And never would you or I have ever seen a homeless person! No, no, no…God would never let that happen! Not while we all were “home” under His care!
And struggle with your kids? Don’t be silly! Why would that have ever happened? They would grow up happier than they could have ever imagined! …Would have always felt loved and special. …And never would they have felt a need to do something outrageous just to “find” themselves.
And what about you in that “first world”?
You would have never struggled to find purpose or value! You have to be kidding? Don’t you remember? You work right along-side of God in the running of that world (if you can call that work!) In fact you are “upper management”! How much more important could you be?
And remember – you are also God’s favorite! Struggling to find value or purpose? Don’t be ridiculous!
Ah, but the truth is we don’t live in THAT world - do we?
And as a result…may I suggest that this world is foreign to us. Still don’t see it? Think about this…
In that original world you were never going to ever experience a moment of depression! Why? Because there was nothing in that original world to ever be depressed about! Nor any event that could cause depression!
What about the emotions of fear, anxiety, or insecurity – well, they would also be foreign to you. No jealousy, no anger, no envy? No…not at all.
Now ask yourself…if you were NEVER going to live in a world like the one we live in…then why would your Creator have had any reason to “program you” to be able to handle any negative incident you were never going to experience?
He wouldn’t have. …And the truth? …GOD DIDN’T.
And as a result, here is your reality. It is not in your DNA to be able to handle this difficult world! You are not programed for it!
Consequently, that means no matter what you do – you are always going to have to struggle to exist here. There is always going to be a fight to not be depressed, to not be angry, to not be anxious, to not be fearful! …To not be lonely. Always! You do get that – don’t you?
Okay, but if true - what do you do? After all remember – YOU DO LIVE IN THIS WORLD!
Ah – THERE JUST MIGHT BE A WAY!
Remember: GOD IS “PROGRAMED” TO HANDLE A WORLD LIKE THIS! It’s in His DNA! He never struggles with depression, anxiety, fear, envy, or any painful emotion like we do. In fact, all of life is quite effortless for Him. He doesn’t even have to think about it. Remember? It is in His nature!
I know – I know what you’re thinking. “That’s great for God! …But what about me?”
Now ask yourself, what was the real reason that humankind never struggled in that “first world”? Come on – easy answer.
…THE TANGIBLE PRESENCE OF GOD! God’s tangible presence prevented any sort of depressing, or fearful, or anxious, or angry moments from happening.
Again that’s great – but we don’t experience the tangible presence of God in this world! That’s true. …Or is it?
If you are a Christian you have been taught, or heard someone talking about the creation of a “new man, new woman” creature. Remember? A sort of inner transformation that we all believe comes into existence “within us”, because of the “God in you, you in God” creation that Jesus spoke about.
Now think about this: What if this idea of a “new man, new person”, this biblical “transformation” of who YOU can become, is something that actually only happens whenever YOU experience some sort of tangible encounter with God?
Is that possible?
That is exactly what this PROJECT is all about. Listen closely; from 50 years of research in the lives of people who claim to have experienced the tangible presence of God (at least once in their life)…
…we discovered that whenever certain “God-created ATTITUDES” are present or created within a human – a door will open to the tangible presence of God! And whenever this happens?
Whenever God’s tangible presence comes inside of a human…He brings with Him the DNA that makes God who He is. And when that happens?
The human is momentarily “transformed” into something totally different.
Not sure you believe this is possible? But what if we are right? Willing to take a chance? A chance that could change all of YOUR WORLD? If so - then come be a part of this world-wide PROJECT!
If you do…I’ll be waiting.
